Eagle
Eagle-class cruisers are often found at the core of military fleets headed for battle. It is not hard to see why: A strong overall profile, with a robust engine, the Eagle's deadly weapons package is a threat to all enemies.
The Eagle can deliver a strong tactical punch to enemy formations. Its numerous turret and hardpoint emplacements make it very dangerous to smaller foes. Decent armor and a strong shield emitter let it hold space while outnumbered, or even when faced with the rare larger ship. These strengths are somewhat countered by strike craft - an Eagle captain must always watch their scopes for an approaching strike squadron, since their ship will be easily crippled by multiple hits from modern strike weapons. The embodiment of the sleek and powerful space cruiser from the time of the Domain, the Eagle-class ships are a beautiful reminder of the technological and aesthetic achievements of humanity's past. |

Strategy and tips
The following section contains user-submitted suggestions, these may be inaccurate or outdated.
The Eagle is considered by many to be a jack of all trades, with respectable stats, flexible mounts, and no standout weaknesses (aside, potentially from a lack of Large and Missile mounts) it can be outfitted to play many different roles in a fleet.
The use of Hypervelocity Drivers, Heavy Maulers and Beam weapons makes for a persistent source of long range fire support. While fitting Heavy Autocannons, Heavy Needlers and hullmods enhancing durability such as Hardened Shields allow the Eagle to fill the role of a line combatant that can use it's Maneuvering Jets ship system to both press advantages and disengage when fluxed. Daring captains may even choose to install Safety Overrides and equip their Eagle with close combat weapons like Assault Chainguns or Heavy Machine Guns in combination with hard hitting and disruptive energy weapons like Ion Pulsers, Phase Lances and Ion Cannons to overwhelm smaller vessels and capitalize on isolated large targets.
The mixed Medium Kinetic and Medium Energy mounts on the Eagle lend themselves to the use of one or more Graviton Beams to enhance the shield damage inflicted by Kinetic Ballistic Weapons.
The Eagle is able to bring out the full potential of the Missile Autoloader hullmod. for its two small missiles. As the Eagle often lacks knock-out power, being able to fire more Harpoon MRMs, Gorgon DEM SRMs or Reaper-class Torpedoes at vulnerable enemies can be worth the investment.
Trivia
The Eagle is one of the oldest ship designs in Starsector's development history and competes with the equally venerable Onslaught as the game's unofficial mascot.
