The Executor is a modification of Altair Exotech's radical "Cruiser School" capital Pegasus-class hull. Modifying starships at the forge-level is a feat only available to polities willing to invest in employing a highly trained specialist class of engineer-technicians. After all, why invest in risky innovations when the bones of the Domain provide ships to fill every role? -- Because the Lion of Askonia demands it! And, through domination of the starship fuel economy, Supreme Executor Philip Andrada had the credits to pay for a capital ship specially designed to outfit the products of his extravagant energy weapon program.

Although the official reports have been subtly improved by parties seeking to avoid punishment, the Executor-class outfitted to Diktat specs tends to slightly underperform the grand expectations set out by the original proposal. But none could argue that the project was not delivered on schedule, and that its results don't make for a fine and terrifying sight in the skies of the Askonia system.

–In-game description

The Executor-class Missile Battleship is a customized Pegasus hull fielded by the Sindrian Diktat.

Overview

Compared to its base design, the Executor cuts out two of its base design's missiles for large energy mounts, and replaces the Fast Missile Racks with a High Energy Focus system to support them. It also has greatly improved top speed and shield efficiency compared to the Pegasus. In addition, the Executor features the Energy Bolt Coherer hullmod that increases the base range of non-beam energy weapons by 100. And like all Lion's Guard ships, the Executor comes with the Solar Shielding hullmod built-in at cost.

However, all of these modifications come at a cost. Since the Solar Shielding is built in at cost, the Executor has 15 fewer ordnance points than the Pegasus, for 350. Thankfully, this is still no small amount for a capital ship. The Energy Bolt Coherer's side effects and the Supreme Executor's questionable engineering decisions resulted in a staggering 60% increase in crew casualties, the latter of which also reduces the Pegasus's already poor flux dissipation by 5% and decreases the rate of repair for engine and weapon damage by 25%. While the Executor has fairly decent speed for a battleship, its maneuverability is nothing to write home about, though its 270 degree shield somewhat reduces the risk of flanking attacks. Regardless, it's important to assign proper escorts for it.

Strategy and tips

Damagetype energy.png The following section contains user-submitted suggestions, these may be inaccurate or outdated.

The Standard autofit has 5 Heavy Autocannons, 4 Graviton Beams and 2 High Intensity Lasers, this loadout allows the player to quickly pressure enemy shields, and dual HILs can easily chew through any armor on a cruiser or smaller hull. Two Locust SRM Launchers can also be fairly useful for warding off enemy frigates and destroyers attempting a flanking attack.

The Elite autofit used by the Lion's Guard, which utilizes 2 Gigacannons, 4 Kinetic Blasters and 5 Heavy Needlers, is terrible and misuses these otherwise powerful weapons. While it can inflict a massive amount of kinetic pressure, this generates three times more flux than it can dissipate. The Kinetic Blaster's range is still limited, even with the Energy Bolt Coherer, and forces the Executor to get up close and personal with the target. which highlights the poor firing arc convergence of the large energy hardpoints, as well as the Executor's less than stellar maneuverability.

The Energy Bolt Coherer can make certain non-beam energy weapons competitive, such as the Plasma Cannon. However, beam weaponry doesn't stress the Executor's poor flux stats. In either instance, the main energy weapons should be supported by ballistics such as the Hypervelocity Driver. The hybrid slots can be filled with a point defense option like the Flak Cannon, while the large missile mounts can use the Squall MLRS for additional anti-shield pressure.
