A remnant of the autonomous AI fleets developed by the TriTachyon Corporation. Illegal under Domain (and Hegemony) law, and an abomination to the Church of Galactic Redemption, the First AI War saw these creations purged from the Sector. At least that is how the official histories tell it.

–In-game description

The Glimmer provides long-range support fire from its array of energy weapons, keeping up flux-pressure on opposing forces.

–Additional Codex description

Tips and strategies

Damagetype energy.png The following section contains user-submitted suggestions, these may be inaccurate or outdated.

Nimble, fast, armed with High Energy Focus augmenting the Medium Energy mount, Glimmer is an efficient Frigate capable of dealing considerable damage to bigger ships while only costing 5 DP. Like all Automated ships, you can use a AI Cores as its captain, increasing its lethality even more with its elite skill like Energy Weapon Mastery or Target Analysis. The low DP also means that you can field multiple AI officered Glimmer before reaching the Automated Ships DP cap.

A recommended build is to use Safety Overrides, allowing the use of more flux intensive weapons such as Heavy Blaster, Cryoblaster, or Cryoflamer. SO also increases mobility, which helps keep it alive for longer. A setup like this results in staggering DPS with the use of HEF, and a group of Glimmer can quickly take care of a bigger ship.

Alternatively, full beam Glimmers like Graviton Beam, Tactical Laser. and Advanced Optics are also possible. While their DPS is significantly lower, they can still contest objectives when the battle starts and provide distraction if nothing else. Thanks to their relatively long range they rarely die despite the Fearless personality of AI cores. They can also act as escorts to ward off flankers, clear missiles or fighters, and support other ships with the Graviton Beam special effects. 4 Tactical laser along with HEF can also strain the flux banks of other ships and can straight up flux lock smaller ships with the soft flux generations.
