Afflictor
A dangerous and swift phase frigate, the Afflictor design features the efficient Mark III Phase Cloak actuator. Its weapons loadout is powerful enough to bring down much heavier ships if they are caught off guard. | ||
–In-Game Description |
The Afflictor-class is a phase Frigate with a unique Entropy Amplifier, which temporarily makes ships more vulnerable to damage.
Overview
The Afflictor-class Phase Frigate is a High Tech Frigate; it is armed with 1 Small Energy turret (360°), 2 forward-facing Small Hybrid hardpoints, and 2 forward-facing Small Universal hardpoints. Its Entropy Amplifier ship system makes a targeted enemy ship more vulnerable to damage from all sources, but will take upwards to 25% of the Afflictor's flux to activate.
The Afflictor has two hullmods integrated; Phase Field, which reduces the sensor profile of the ship and also reduces the sensor profile of the fleet overall; and Delicate Machinery, which quickens the rate of combat readiness decay after the ship has passed its peak performance time.
Acquisition
Since it is a high tech ship, the Afflictor is very rare, and can occasionally be found in Tri-Tachyon bastions and its colonies, and in elite mercenary bounties given by contacts.
Note: In the vanilla version of the game, if an enemy ship has S-Mods and it's defeated, they can lose their S-Mods on recovery. In the case of the Afflictor, they will be guaranteed to lose them.
Tactics
The following section contains user-submitted suggestions, these may be inaccurate or outdated.
- Its Phase Field, Entropy Amplifier and frontal universal/hybrid weapon mounts makes it suitable for hit-and-run tactics against medium-sized ships. In this role, it is best piloted directly by the player, who can infiltrate the enemy and assassinate a high-value target.
- This ship combined with the Wolfpack Tactics and Target Analysis skills can make the Afflictor a terrifying strike ship, capable of eliminating low armor cruisers and dealing heavy damage even to capital ships.
- The Afflictor is also suitable for anti-shield support roles when equipped with Sabot missiles and Antimatter Blasters; phasing in and out while shredding enemy shields and providing heavy fire. See the Strike autofit variant below.
