After the Second AI War, much of the TriTachyon phase fleet was irreperably damaged or otherwise decommissioned due to treaty conditions. Many of these D-grade phase ships were sold to disreputable elements such as black marketeers and pirates who promptly put them back into service.

A dangerous and swift phase frigate, the Afflictor design features the efficient Mark III Phase Cloak actuator. Its weapons loadout is powerful enough to bring down much heavier ships if they are caught off guard.

–In-Game Description

The Afflictor (P)-class frigate is a Pirate variant of the Afflictor. It lacks two universal weapon mounts and has lower stats, but is cheaper to purchase and deploy.

Overview

A Pirate variation of the Afflictor Frigate; it is armed with 1 Small Energy turret (360°), and 2 forward-facing Small Hybrid hardpoints. The Afflictor (P) offensively is weaker than the base Afflictor, lacking the base variant's 2 Small Universal hardpoints, and 15 ordnance points; however in exchange, the Afflictor (P) is also cheaper to deploy and easier to obtain.

In regards to defense, the Afflictor (P) is equipped with a built-in Phase Cloak.

Armed with the same Entropy Amplifier ship system as the base variant, this ship system makes a targeted enemy ship more vulnerable to damage from all sources, but will take upwards to 25% of the Afflictor's flux to activate.

The Afflictor (P) has two hullmods integrated; Phase Field, which reduces the sensor profile of the ship and also reduces the sensor profile of the fleet overall; and Delicate Machinery, which quickens the rate of combat readiness decay after the ship has passed its peak performance time.

Acquisition

Afflictor (P) is fairly easy to find, available in pirate markets and black market.

Tactics

Damagetype energy.png The following section contains user-submitted suggestions, these may be inaccurate or outdated.

  • The Pirate version of the Afflictor is a good early to mid-game ship, being easier to maintain, buy, and commonly found in all planets black markets.
  • The Afflictor's Phase Field, Entropy Amplifier and frontal universal/hybrid weapon mounts makes it suitable for hit-and-run tactics against medium-sized ships. The Afflictor (P) does a less decent job in this role compared to the base Afflictor however, due to missing two frontal mounts.
  • This ship combined with the Wolfpack Tactics and Target Analysis skills can make the Afflictor a terrifying strike ship, capable of eliminating low armor cruisers and dealing heavy damage even to capital ships.
  • The Afflictor is also suitable for anti-shield support roles when equipped with Sabot missiles and Antimatter Blasters; phasing in and out while shredding enemy shields and providing heavy fire.
