Low Tech Station

From Starsector Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The Low Tech Station is one of the three buildable station industries. It has the most conventional design among the stations.

Low tech stations are ubiquitous throughout the Sector, even found around a number of Tri-Tachyon planets. They are widely used as pirate bases.

Overview

Orbital Station

The Low Tech Orbital Station consists of two Heavy Support Modules and one Heavy Combat Module arranged in a slowly rotating circle. The combat module has an extensive array of ballistic and missile armaments, while the support modules are lighter armed and have two fighter wings each.

Battlestation

The Battlestation adds a Heavy Citadel extended on a strut between the two support modules, and two PD Bastions similarly placed between the combat module and each support module. The combat module also gets Station Armor modules. Notably, the citadel makes the support modules significantly less vulnerable to flanking, and means attacking ships are almost never out of the field of fire of large ballistic weapons.

Star Fortress

The Star Fortress adds a weak minelayer, five Merlon drones, and armor modules to every armed module that did not have them before.

Notes

In version 0.9.1 the Low Tech Battlestation is a great increase in direct combat (not autoresolve) power over the Orbital Station, but the Star Fortress is only a modest upgrade.[1]
