Prometheus
| A tanker of vast capacity used to shift strategic quantities of fuel between worlds. Unlike its smaller cousins, the Prometheus features a reasonable defensive arsenal to protect its valuable and volatile cargo. | ||
–In-game description | ||
Overview
The Prometheus is the largest Tanker available in Starsector, able to carry vast amounts of fuel at a supply efficiency unparalleled by smaller tankers.
The Prometheus' fuel capacity makes it a valuable asset to any scavenging or exploring fleet, as it allows travel for significant distances away from the core worlds, without the need of refueling.
Availability
The Prometheus tanker is available for sale in most major faction markets, and can also be encountered and recovered as a derelict ship.

Tips and strategies
The following section contains user-submitted suggestions, these may be inaccurate or outdated.
The Prometheus tanker, like most heavy tankers and freighters, is absolutely unsuited for combat and should disengage whenever it encounters danger. The tanker should be armed with point defense weapons and always accompanied by escorts to deter enemies.
The most significant disadvantage of the Prometheus tanker is its poor maximum burn: any fleet of fast, light ships will be slowed to a crawl after it acquires a Prometheus.
Augmented Drive Field hullmod and/or Bulk Transport skill will improve the tanker's max burn.
Trivia
Prometheus one of the only ships with no additional codex description. With an exeption for Secret unobtainable ships.
