General Information | |||||||||||||||
|
The Sindrian Diktat is a polity founded in a relatively recent Hegemony military intervention in the Askonia system led by Admiral Philip Andrada, formerly of the Hegemony Navy. Andrada's Hegemony psych profile describes him as "intelligent, charismatic, yet prone to narcissistic excess". In his words, the Diktat was "formed in the crucible of the Askonia Crisis and with it a new people: a race of humans with emboldened spirit and clarity of purpose; stronger, possessing the will and determination to overcome the divisions and petty parliamentary politics that bred only chaos when tested by the collapse of the Gate System." Considered by the Sector at large to be a military dictatorship. | ||
–In-Game Faction Description |
The Sindrian Diktat is a faction in the Askonia system. A military dictatorship founded by the rogue (former)Hegemony admiral Philip Andrada, it controls most of its home system. If fuel, crime & vice, or Volturnian Lobster is what you need then the Diktat has you covered.
The Sindrian Diktat has three planets all in the Askonia system, along with an orbital station and a relay.
- The capital, Sindria, has multiple ore refining complexes, a Low Tech battlestation orbiting it, and one of the Sector's few antimatter fuel production facilities.
- Volturn, which orbits the gas giant Salus, is the sole producer of the exotic Volturnian Lobster.
- The other moon of Salus is the mining outpost Cruor, rich in natural resources and Diktat labor camps.
Lore
Askonia Crisis
"Ah, the tragedy of Opis. The sheer scale of loss is incomprehensible to the mind. To this day there are those who fight and kill over the finer points of whose fault it was. I have my position, but that argument over-dominates the story of the Opisean polity itself. Why should those countless dead be defined by their murderer? I find that the beginning of a story is necessary to illuminate the end, don't you agree?"
[He/She] doesn't wait for an answer, but begins to lecture. "Opis was a center of population, of art and commerce. Not heavy industry as-such, however - that they exported to Sindria; and agriculture, to Volturn. Out of sight, out of mind. The rulers of the Chartery of Opis grew to see little need in appeasing any but their local patronage networks. Wealth flowed to the center, where influence coagulated; the edges were forgotten." "Was it once again the sin of the Domain re-enacted on a smaller stage?" [He/She] raises [His/Her] eyebrows. |

Askonia was once a powerful Independent administered from its capital, the moon Opis, and supported by Volturn & Sindria
However, in c+180, the Askonia Crisis erupts as civil war engulfs the system over domestic issues, mainly around Persean League membership. In c+181, the Hegemony sends out a taskforce led by Admiral Philip Andrada to prevent any chance of the polity becoming part of the Persean League.
Unfortunately, shortly after, a Planetkiller was used on Opis by an unknown party, causing catastrophic loss as everyone accused each other for being responsible. In face of this fallout, the Hegemony issues a recall order, which Philip disobeys, instead, he declares himself "Executor" over the system, with most of the taskforce supporting him, defecting from the Hegemony to form the Sindrian Diktat
"If Philip Andrada, the self-annointed Supreme Executor of the Sindrian Diktat, were the strategic mastermind he was claimed to be - first by Hegemony propaganda and then his own - then why then did he not simply sweep the Persean Sector in a conquest to rival his greatest vanquished foe, the Warlord Loke?"
"Well!" The historian raises a finger like an orator, then, thinking better of it, lets [His/Her] hand drop to the table. "Matters abound! Andrada took a portion - but only a portion - of the Hegemony navy in the course of his mutiny. He took possession of the Askonia system and was immediately faced with the catastrophic consequences of the Opis incident, ongoing rebellion, complete lack of logistics, and the pressing need to maintain a credible military force against a vengeful Hegemony. And, indeed, all of this while fulfilling the expectations of key supporters!" "The true testament to Andrada's genius may well lie in his scheme not immediately collapsing in upon itself!" |

The Lion's Guard
The Diktat comes with a special subfaction known as the Lion's Guard, they are based from the Lion's Guard HQ in Sindria and function separately from the regular Sindrian Navy.
Their fleets come with specially modified Midline ships with Sindrian livery and built-in Solar Shielding, with some "Special Modifications" that affect their performance in combat.
To get the best out of these special weapons, these modifications bias the ships towards energy weapons, converting turret types and frequently installing Energy Bolt Coherers.
However, doctrinal ineffiency sees their potential hampered, and Lion's Guard is only filled with officers who display exemplary loyalty to the Diktat rather than any particular skill.
Fleet Doctrine
Ships
Sindrian Diktat fleets mostly use midline ships, with the Lion's Guard utilizing the special modified variants.
However, Fleet Doctrine exclusively uses warships due to the belief that "fighter jocks" detract from working together for the "Supreme Exector's Great Plan". Their main capital is the Executor-class, a modified Pegasus.

Weapons
The Sindrian Diktat's arsenal features a mix of mid-to-elite weaponry.
However, the most notable part of their arsenal are their special weapons; the Kinetic Blaster and the Gigacannon. Lion's Guard fleets also have a chance to be equipped their special weapons, and are the only way to obtain them in the "wild".

Colony Crisis
- Main article: Colony_Crises#Sindrian_Diktat
If a player colony were to reach 5 units of production for fuel, the Sindrian Diktat will view that colony as a competitor and openly raiding conveys related to that colony. After sufficient time has passed, they will send out a taskforce with the intent of conduction a saturation bombardment on that colony. Fighting off this attack will increase fuel export income.

The Usurpers
- Main article: The Usurpers
"It is speculated that Admiral Andrada, the self-annointed Supreme Executor of the Sindrian Diktat - or 'Sindrian Mutiny' per the Hegemony viewpoint - is facing a dictator's all-too-common problem of succession. Until now, behind the unified facade of the Diktat, it appears that he has played his major supporters off one another to maintain political stability. Declaring a clear successor would have disrupted this internal balance."
"And now," the historian speaks slowly, rubbing [His/Her] chin, "with the cycles' inevitable turn and Andrada in rumored poor health, will he make a surprise announcement to designate an heir? There would be a wave of arrests and, dare I say, executions as those loyal and disloyal to the Executor-apparent are... sorted." "Or perhaps Andrada has a secret family, or a mind-simulation, or a clone, or some wilder scheme?" [He/She] barks a laugh. "Speculation on this point seems to say as much about the speculator as about anything Andrada is thinking. I should ask you for some insight!" [He/She] laughs again. |

Relationship Tier Flavour Text
Tier | Description |
---|---|
Cooperative | You are considered an exemplar of the Andradan Ideal. Patrol officers know that their careers, and perhaps lives, depend on making your life as pleasant as possible. A rather grand holo-version of you is featured in propaganda segments extolling your embodiment of the values the Supreme Executor forges in the worthy. |
Friendly | You've been flagged for official treatment as a trusted supporter of the Andradan Movement, a friend and ally of Sindrian Diktat authority. Minor functionaries know that their carrers and possibly lives depend on easing your business with Diktat-controlled volumes. |
Welcoming | Your name is spoken well of among some of the high-level officials in the various ministries of the Sindrian Diktat, and it is clear that there is some kind of official note attached to your record. Local patrol commanders and port authority officers alike know what's good for their careers and make a point of treating you politely and efficiently. |
Favourable | You have been flagged as a known quantity in the records kept by the Sindrian Diktat security apparatus. Officials tend to view you favourably, though don't go out of their way to make life easy. At best, you might be sould some low-grade surplus military equipment, or avoid being the target of an investigation if a more convenient scapegoat is available. |
Neutral | You're not generally well known by the Sindrian Diktat security apparatus. If you keep your head down and your mouth shut, you're probably be fine unless some Lion's Guard officer wants to make an example out of someone. |
Suspicious | Though you have not been declared a state enemy, it is clear that you have been flagged by the Sindrian Diktat security apparatus. Port officials view you with distrust, fulfilling procedural requests slowly and singling you out for unnecessary inspections and checks. |
Inhospitable | The Sindrian Diktat security apparatus has flagged you as a suspected terrorist, though has not yet issued a shoot-on-sight order. Diktat-controlled ports will refuse to trade with you, and patrols seem to make it their mission to make your life miserable. |
Hostile | You have joined the ranks of those declared enemies of the state. The Sindrian Diktat navy has authorization to engage your fleet, and traders are prohibited from dealing with you for fear of being declared supporters of terrorism. |
Vengeful | You have been declared a state enemy by the Sindrian Diktat and seen as a deranged terrorist against the Andradan Movement. Uncharitable modified holos of you performing crimes and sordid acts have appeared in official propaganda broadcasts. |
There are rumors that you're a double or triple-agent working for - or against? - Dolos Macario | ||
