An alliance formed to counter Hegemony domination of the Sector. Members of the League don't necessarily agree on all issues, domestic or otherwise, and may even come into armed conflict with one another. But the League is united when it comes to the Hegemony who they consider to be illegitimately enforcing martial law in the name of the Domain, a dead political entity. The League, by its laws, unites against other external threats such as particularly meddlesome megacorporations, warlords, and the Luddic Path.

The Persean League is not intrinsically egalitarian or for individual freedom as-such – the purpose of the League is freedom of the constituent polities with any matters of internal politics of those polities to be left to their own devices. While the Domain might have intervened against the domestic policies of the worlds it ruled, the League specifically forbids such intervention.

–In-Game Faction Description

“Make no mistake, the Persean League is not egalitarian, it does not protect individual freedom. Their goal is only the freedom of their member polities as entities unto themselves – this is the freedom of the Kazeron oligarchs to enslave the weak, to exploit the masses, to run an archipelago of petty dictatorships against coordinated mass action of the free peoples of the Sector!”

The Persean League is a powerful faction opposed to the Hegemony. It has a wide reach, controlling the same number of markets as the Hegemony.

Faction Info

The League is the second largest faction of the Persean Sector. Its largest world, Kazeron, has a military submarket and a high stability, and is a good place for purchasing supplies, ships and weapons, and Heavy Armaments.

The League is initially friendly with the Sindrian Diktat and hostile to the Hegemony.

The League was formed in c.83, following the destruction of the jewel world of Mairaath at the hands of the Luddic Path and the subsequent attack by the Hegemony in c.82.[2]

League politics are dominated by the capital world of Kazeron and its three great gens (extended families). Gens Hannan advocates a policy of Kazeronian supremacy to oppose Hegemony, while Gens Kato seeks to build intra-League alliances, and Gens Yaribay desires reconciliation with the Hegemony.[3] The current ruler is Prime Demarchon Reynard Hannan.

The League ostensibly practices a policy of non-interference with member states, except where a member chooses to withdraw from the League, as in the case of Mazalot where a Luddic revolution and attempted secession was violently suppressed.[4] However, in practice it is willing to interfere with domestic politics when a state chooses to defy Kazeron, as seen with the detention of researcher Scylla Coureuse on Lacaille Habitat and the local archon's subsequent replacement for allowing her release.[5] The League colony crisis involves the faction using military force to exert economic pressure on the player faction, hoping to coerce it into joining the League.

Known Ships

Persean League fleets consist purely of Midline ships. Their doctrine puts a greater emphasis on warships, with the occasional carrier. Their ship quantity and quality are slightly de-emphasized in favor of competent, steady officers.

Known Weapons

Notably, the Persean League are the exclusive users of the Directed Energy Munitions (DEM) category of missiles. They also make use of the IR Autolance as their premier anti-fighter weapon. Their ballistics loadout is middle-of-the-road in comparison to the Hegemony and the Luddic Church, with exception to their one large ballistic, the Mjolnir Cannon.

Known Wings

The Persean League doesn't use bombers in the few carriers they field. They mainly use interceptors and fighters.
