General Information | |||||||||||||||
|
An alliance formed to counter Hegemony domination of the Sector. Members of the League don't necessarily agree on all issues, domestic or otherwise, and may even come into armed conflict with one another. But the League is united when it comes to the Hegemony who they consider to be illegitimately enforcing martial law in the name of the Domain, a dead political entity. The League, by its laws, unites against other external threats such as particularly meddlesome megacorporations, warlords, and the Luddic Path.
The Persean League is not intrinsically egalitarian or for individual freedom as-such – the purpose of the League is freedom of the constituent polities with any matters of internal politics of those polities to be left to their own devices. While the Domain might have intervened against the domestic policies of the worlds it ruled, the League specifically forbids such intervention. |

–In-Game Faction Description |
“Make no mistake, the Persean League is not egalitarian, it does not protect individual freedom. Their goal is only the freedom of their member polities as entities unto themselves – this is the freedom of the Kazeron oligarchs to enslave the weak, to exploit the masses, to run an archipelago of petty dictatorships against coordinated mass action of the free peoples of the Sector!”
–How to Identify and Classify Antis, Hegemony Ministry of Information FactNet[1] |
The Persean League is the second largest faction of the Persean Sector opposed to the Hegemony. Its largest world, Kazeron, has a military submarket and a high stability, and is a good place for purchasing supplies, ships and weapons, and Heavy Armaments.
The League is initially friendly with the Sindrian Diktat and hostile to the Hegemony.
Lore
Post-Collapse
The Persean League proper wasn't formed until c+83, though its various member worlds did managed to survive the Collapse and likely developed the basis for their various cultures as seen today, being inadvertently liberated from the yoke of the Domain.
- Kazeron was likely a major Independent power with its Pristine Nanoforge, though it's not known when its 3 Great Gens came to be.
- Filkenhild developed it's unusual culture surrounding its "king" and holo-entertainment industry.
- Mazalot gained a large Luddic population that's suppressed by a dictatorship.
- Mairaath was also a major Independent power until its unfortunate destruction.

–How to Identify and Classify Antis, Hegemony Ministry of Information FactNet (quotation of unauthorized hyperwave dispatch from suspected ARC cell propagandist) |
The Persean League was formed in c+83, following & in reaction to the destruction of the jewel world of Mairaath at the hands of the Luddic Path and the subsequent attack by the Hegemony in c+82.[2]
While the founding members aren't completely known, it can be inferred that the following worlds partook in its initial formation:
- Kazeron
- Filkenhild, Athulf & Suddene
- Cibola & Madeira
- Mazalot & Yesod
Intervening Period
Shortly after their founding, tensions between Hegemony & Tri-Tachyon over AI Core usage led to the First AI War in c+89, with the Persean League siding with the latter to oppose the former. It is unknown how of damage the Persean League suffered and if they've incurred any penalties when the war was lost.
At some point (possibly during the war), Persean League was able to take over Mairaath from Hegemony control and Laicaille Habitat from Pirate control.
In c+148, the Mazalot regime has been overthrown by its Luddic population, which gets suppressed when the Persean League sends out a taskforce in c+153 and successfully defeats the supporting Knights of Ludd & Luddic Path fleet.
In c+181, the Askonia crisis developed partially due to the issue of Persean League membership, though it's not exactly known how much the Persean League interfered in this affair.
The Second AI War begins in c+189 with the Persean League once again supporting the Tri-Tachyon, albeit with less openness or enthusiasm.
Kazeron & the 3 Great Gens
League politics are dominated by the capital world of Kazeron and its three great gens (extended families). Gens Hannan advocates a policy of Kazeronian supremacy to oppose Hegemony, Gens Kato seeks to build intra-League alliances, and Gens Yaribay desires reconciliation with the Hegemony.[3] The current ruler is Prime Demarchon Reynard Hannan.
The League ostensibly practices a policy of non-interference with member states, except where a member chooses to withdraw from the League, as in the case of Mazalot where a Luddic revolution and attempted secession was violently suppressed.[4] However, in practice it is willing to interfere with domestic politics when a state chooses to defy Kazeron, as seen with the detention of researcher Scylla Coureuse on Lacaille Habitat and the local archon's subsequent replacement for allowing her release.[5]
Fleet Doctrine
Ships
Persean League warfleets consist purely of Midline ships. Like the Hegemony, they possess a Pristine Nanoforge, producing higher quality hulls.
Their doctrine puts a greater emphasis on warships, with the occasional carrier. Their ship quantity and quality are slightly de-emphasized in favor of competent and steady officers.

Weapons
Notably, the Persean League are the exclusive users of the Directed Energy Munitions (DEM) category of missiles. They also make use of the IR Autolance as their premier anti-fighter weapon. Their ballistics loadout is middle-of-the-road in comparison to the Hegemony and the Luddic Church, with exception to their one large ballistic, the Mjolnir Cannon.

Colony Crisis
- Main article: Colony_Crises#Persean_League
When the player's colony becomes size 5 or they have multiple colonies, the Persean League (or mainly Gens Hannan) will become interested in "persuading" the player to join the Persean League. If the player hasn't joined the Persean League after enough time has passed, they would send out Blockade Fleets to temporarily reduce the accessibility of all the player colonies in the afflicted system. The player can either defeat key elements of the Blockade Fleets or join the Persean League.
Relationship Tier Flavour Text
Tier | Description |

Cooperative | You are upheld as a friend, ally, and patriot of the League (and the gens); an example held high for those building a new, free system of federated polities among the stars to counter those who would recast the chains of Domain hegemony. |
Friendly | You are given friendly welcome by agents of the Persean League, including fleet, customs, and intelligence services. The great gens of Kazeron favor you in matters of business and easily forgive minor indiscretions. |

Officials of the Persean League consider you to be an independent operator with a set of League-guaranteed commerce rights within their controlled volume. Your noteworthy independent fleet makes some smaller members wary and others respectful. |
Neutral
Player Colonies == 0 + Player Fleet Points >= 120 |
Officials of the Persean League consider you to be an independent operator with a set of League-guaranteed commerce rights within their controlled volume. You can trade and travel freely so long as you use a transponder, respect tariffs, and adhere to commodity restrictions. |
Suspicious | You have been tagged as a person of interest by the Persean League federal apparatus, subject to additional inspection and verification upon port entry. The gens of Kazeron are hesitant to deal with you preferring to do necessary business through intermediaries. |
Inhospitable | The PLFIS has flagged you as an involved party in suspicious and/or criminal activity. You are denied permission to trade in League world markets, and patrols will treat you as a potential threat, though they do not have shot-on-sight orders from Fleet command. Yet. |
Hostile | Patrols of the Persean League have orders to 'engage at opportunity' if your fleet is spotted, considering you no better than a pirate. Markets of League Worlds are closed to you, and it is rumored that the gens of Kazerons are cooking up plans to be rid of your nuisance once and for all. |
Vengeful | You are a scourge of the spaceways, declared enemy of the Persean League and its free citizens. More concerning, however, is that the great gens of Kazeron are willing to put aside their differences to pool resources to hunt you down. |
You are rumored to be an agent for gens Yaribay of Kazeron.
