The Gorgon was designed as a lightweight delivery system for an energy strike fired from unexpected attack vectors calculated to initiate beyond the range of the heaviest anticipated PD coverage. A solid DEM packing reliable burst attack power.

The Gorgon DRM SRM is essentially a missile with a burst laser. The missile has range of 1500, the beam itself is fired from 700 units away although it has a short (0.25s) wind-up. The short-duration-high-damage nature of the beam makes it suitable for either overloading enemy shields or punching through light armor.

At 4 Ordnance Points, the Gorgon costs as much as Harpoon MRM or Sabot SRM, trading specialization of either for 1 more missile. The higher ammo capacity and the amount of damage the Gorgon inflicts makes it a suitable weapon for pressuring and dispatching smaller targets like Frigates, but less effective against larger, more armored targets compared to Harpoons.
