Hardened Shields is a hullmod that can be installed on any ship that has shields.

  • Like most percentage reductions, the shield damage reduction is multiplicative with other modifiers like those from Field Modulation (e.g., taking both Hardened Shields and Field Modulation will result in 1 * (1 - 0.2) * (1 - 0.15) = 0.68 times the original shield efficiency).

  • Note that, from perspective of effective shield HP, Hardened Shields is usually not as efficient as simply putting OP into flux capacitors. However, it starts being more OP efficient than the equivalent in flux capacitors when the ship has more than 4000/8000/12000/20000 flux capacity (based on ship size).
  • Generally useful for High Tech ships, which often rely on shield for damage mitigation and already have high base flux capacity (thus requiring fewer capacitors before Hardened Shield becomes an efficient use of OP for shield health purposes).
