Overview

Converted Hanger is a hullmod that can be installed on any Destroyer-class, Cruiser-class and Capital-class ship, except Phase ships or ships that already have proper fighter bays.

Availability

Notes

  • Adds a Fighter bay to the ship.
  • Fighter replacement rate decays and recovers 1.5x slower.
  • Increases fighter refit time by 1.5x. For bombers, time to rearm is also increased to 40% of modified refit time.
  • Increases minimum crew requirement by 20.
  • Increases Deployment Point cost of the ship by Ordnance Point value of the fighter wing divided by 5 rounded up, with minimum of 1.
  • Ships with Vast Hangar receive no penalties from the Converted Hangar.

  • Provides a way to obtain fighter capabilities without needing proper carriers.
  • Can be used to spam cheaper fighters, albeit at a lower efficiency than proper carriers.

Changelog

  • Patch 0.96: Reworked, no penalties to fighters, increased refit/replacement rate and DP of the ship instead
  • Patch 0.95.1a: 
    • Fighter damage taken penalty reduced to 25% (was: 50%)
    • Fighter speed penalty reduced to 25% (was: 33%)
  • Patch 0.9: 
    • Removed fighter replacement rate penalty
    • Can now re-launch returned fighters quickly, i.e. useful for bombers
    • Fighters have reduced stats and d-mod overlay as if the ship had a Defective Manufactory d-mod
      • (-33% speed, +50% damage taken)
    • OP cost for bombers increased by 100%; by 50% for all other fighters
