Repair gantry.png
Increases the resources gained from salvaging abandoned stations, derelicts, floating hulks, and other such by 10%/25%/30%/40%, depending on hull size. Only affects the recovery of common resources such as fuel and supplies, and not rare items like blueprints. In addition, 20% of the bonus applies to post-battle salvage.

Each additional ship with a salvage gantry provides diminishing returns. The higher the highest recovery bonus from a single ship in the fleet, the later the diminishing returns kick in.

–In-game description

Notes

  • Stacks with diminishing returns with other Salvage Gantries in the fleet. Mouse over the Salvage Gantry hullmod in the Refit screen to see the current values.
  • Does not affect the chance of recovering special items such as blueprints.
  • Will not apply its bonus if the ship is below 10% Combat readiness.
  • Does not drop as a modular hullmod. Only available as a built-in hullmod on the Shepherd and Salvage Rig.
  • Despite the hullmod's bonus scaling with ship size all the way up to capital, there are currently no cruiser or capital class ships equipped with one.

Note that "the higher the highest recovery bonus from a single ship in the fleet, the later the diminishing returns kick in" - this means that, for example, 1 Salvage Rig and 5 Shepherds offer a combined salvage bonus of 55%, same as 3 Salvage Rigs - even though 5 Shepherds alone offer only a bonus of 28% which is a lot less than combined bonus of 2 Salvage Rigs(which is 44%)

Examples

Salvage bonus:

  • 1x Shepherd: 10%
  • 3x Shepherd: 22% (exactly)
  • 1x Salvage Rig: 25%
  • 2x Salvage Rig: 44%
  • 3x Salvage Rig: 55% (exactly)
  • 1x Salvage Rig and 5x Shepherd: 55%
  • 3x Salvage Rig and 4x Shepherd: 67%
  • 10 Shepherds: 35% (exactly)

Maths

Salvage formula:

total = sum of all salvage bonuses in the fleet

max = single largest salvage rig bonus in the fleet

bonus = the end result salvage modifier

bonus = max * { [ log( total / max ) / log(2.5) ] + 1 }

Efficiency values(only correct if you don't mix Shepherds/Salvage Rigs):

1st: 100%
2nd: 75.7%
3rd: 44,3%
4th: 31,4%
5th: 23,4%
6th: 19,9%
7th: 16,8%
8th: 14,6%
9th: 12,9%
10th: 11,5%
