Category:Midline
Midline hulls hold true to their name: they strike the middle between low tech and high tech hulls. They typically fall into two categories: specialized designs with the goal of fulfilling a specific purpose on the battlefield, or a more generalized approach with the intention to be a jack-of-all-trades. Each utilize a flexible range of ordinance and a combination of both adequate armor and shields for defense.
Midline hulls that focus on specialization can fulfill unique roles in a fleet, often providing better performance in that role than a standardized hull of similar size. For example, a Gryphon with it's ship system can easily provide a significant amount of missile ordinance to the battlefield for a very efficient cost. The Heron is a highly mobile carrier design that allows for one of the fastest methods of providing strike/support craft to a specific area. The Hammerhead trades mobility and defense for maximum firepower. However, the lack of versatility of these designs cause them to underperform when singled out.
Those that are more generalized like the Eagle or Falcon provide a fleet with flexibility as they come with adequate armaments with respectable flux management to fit a variety of loadouts and roles. These hulls typically utilize Maneuvering Jets to allow for much greater mobility throughout the battlefield compared to their low tech counterparts.
