A vast starport where the stars can touch the dirt. Regimented lander gantries and armoured fuel tanks are laced together by access-roads and short-haul cargo trams feeding a sprawl of warehouse districts and logistics terminals, all making the colony vastly more accessible.

–In-game description

A Megaport is a structure. It is built by upgrading a Spaceport.

Construction

Megaport costs 300,000¢ to be upgraded to and has a build time of 150 days.

It will refund 225,000¢ when downgraded and 262,500¢ when shutdown.

Upkeep

Megaports have a base upkeep of 2,000¢ * (colony size - 2).

A Megaport will incur an upkeep penalty if the demand for Fuel, Supplies, or Ship Hulls & Weapons is not met. The penalty is a 10% increase to upkeep per unit of the largest shortage amount.

Effects

  • Provides +80% accessibility to the colony.
  • Provides +(colony size) population growth.

Note: A Megaport, or its downgrade Spaceport, provide the majority of a colony's accessibility, both directly and by removing the -100% accessibility penalty from the lack of a spaceport, thus making exports or imports without one nigh-impossible.

Production

  • Crew: equal to colony size - 1

Demands

AI Cores

Megaports receive the following perks from the assignment of an AI Core:

Additional Buffs

Additionally, a Fullerene Spool can be added to a Spaceport or Megaport on non extreme weather / extreme tectonic activity, non gas giants worlds to increase accessibility by an additional 30%. This will also increase Pather interest by 4.

A Story point Improvement increases accessibility by an additional 20%.

Trivia

  • The Megaport and its downgrade Spaceport are the only structures (including industries) in the game to suffer an upkeep penalty for any reason besides the colony's hazard rating.
