Farming on a water world requires a significant initial investment in bio-engineering suitable species, but once the process takes off, algae farms and fisheries can be operated by the population without requiring much in the way of specialized training or equipment.

Aquaculture is an industry. It can be built on any Colony established on a Water World, and cannot be built on any other planet type.

Construction

Aquaculture costs 250,000¢ to build, and has a build time of 60 days.

It will refund 187,500¢ when shut down.

Upkeep

Aquaculture has a base upkeep of 1,500¢ * (colony size - 2).

Effects

Aquaculture does not provide any benefits to the colony.

Production

Aquaculture produces the following commodities;

  • Food: equal to colony size

Additionally, based on available resources, Aquaculture can also produce the following commodities;

Demands

Aquaculture demands the following commodities;

A shortage of Heavy Machinery will reduce the production of Food by an amount equal to the shortage.

Additional Buffs

You can also invest Story Points once per Aquaculture to increase production by +1.

With the Luddic Majority market condition, production can be increased by +1/+2, though it will also attract Unwanted Attention.
