Reverse Polarity
| Reverse the polarity of the drive field, causing the fleet to travel against the current of slipstreams.
Going against the current is less efficient and results in the slipstream current's effect being reduced by 25%. When used outside a slipstream, incurs no cost, penalty, or risk of ship damage.
An emergency maneuver when performed inside a slipstream, reversing drive field polarity consumes 1 light year's worth of fuel and reduces the combat readiness of all ships by 25% of a combat deployment. The cost is incurred both when activating and deactivating the ability. Ships with insufficient combat readiness may suffer damage when the ability is activated. |

Overview
Reverse Polarity is an ability that allows the player fleet to travel along slipstreams in the reverse direction. It is acquired by reaching 400 points of Hyperspace Topography.
When used outside a slipstream (i.e. before getting in), it has no cost or negative effects aside from the reduced speed. Using it when already in a slipstream costs combat readiness equal to 25% of each ship's deployment cost, and 1 light year's worth of fuel.
Only useful in Hyperspace due to the distinct lack of Slipstreams in system/normal space.
Notes
- Also changes the ships' engine plumes to a purple-like color in the campaign map.
