A powerful and versatile manufacturing "black box", capable of building itself out to an industrial scale, given the necessary raw materials and human assistance.

This one has seen better days, and is incapable of reliably producing defect-free components. Nonetheless, having access to a nanoforge at all is a step up as far as starship construction goes.

–In-Game Description

The Corrupted Nanoforge is a special item. It can be installed into the Heavy Industry and Orbital Works industries.

Corrupted Nanoforges have a base price of 50 000 credits.

Effects

When installed into an appropriate industry, a Corrupted Nanoforge increases that industries' production of all commodities by 1 unit. Appropriate industries are Heavy Industry or Orbital Works.

Additionally, having a Corrupted Nanoforge installed will increase the ship quality of the fleets spawned at the planet by 20%. If the planet supplies the most ship hulls of any in-faction planet, this bonus also affects all other planets in the faction, as well as custom production.

A nanoforge (Corrupted or Pristine) will immediately create the Pollution condition when used in a colony with the Habitable condition, increasing hazard rating by 25% and effectively cancelling out Habitable's hazard rating benefits. If the nanoforge is removed before 90 days (cumulative) then the Pollution will also be removed; a nanoforge remaining for longer than this results in permanent Pollution. This interaction occurs specifically with the Habitable condition, and not with colonies that have population but not the specific Habitable condition.

Acquiring

Can be found in all Special Item spawning locations.

The following core worlds have a Corrupted Nanoforge by default:
