A specialized warhead capable of sundering a world. Operating principles are only dimly understood and are thought to involve utilizing the world's spin and some form of resonance.

This one is safed and requires authorization codes, possibly long-lost, to become anything more than a complicated, but completely inert piece of machinery.

–In-Game Description

The Planetkiller is a quest-exclusive item. It cannot be used, sold on markets or placed in storage, but can be turned in to certain factions for rewards.

A planetkiller can be found in the Sector; the mission "The Scythe of Orion" leads to it.

In the Sector's history, planetkillers were used on the inhabited worlds of Opis and Hanan Pacha by unknown parties, among other incidents. The Hegemony and Tri-Tachyon are known to have possessed planetkillers at some point.

The planetkiller can be given to:

  • Luddic Path (any station commander):
    • Luddic Path will no longer contribute to Colony Crises and all Pather cells on your colonies will become inactive. You will also receive +10 reputation with Luddic Path.
  • Hegemony (any station commander or base commander):
    • 100,000¢, +25 reputation, +25 reputation with the contacted person, they become a potential contact.
    • 500,000¢ and +5 reputation.
  • Tri-Tachyon (any station commander or base director):
    • 500,000¢, +5 reputation, +5 reputation with the contacted person, they become a potential contact, -25 Hegemony reputation.
  • Sindrian Diktat (any station commander or base commander):
    • 10,000¢, +5 reputation, +5 reputation with the contacted person, they become a potential contact.
    • 20,000¢, +10 reputation, +10 reputation with the contacted person, they become a potential contact: if you agree "gladly".
    • 500,000¢, -10 reputation, -25 reputation with the contacted person.
    • An Executor, which would be fulfilled a week later, -10 reputation, -25 reputation with the contacted person, -50 Hegemony reputation.
    • An Executor without Special Modifications, which would be fulfilled a week later, -25 reputation, -50 reputation with the contacted person, -50 Hegemony reputation.
  • Rayan Arroyo:
    • 300,000¢, +5 reputation with Tri-Tachyon and +5 with him if you assure him nobody else knows about it.
    • 150,000¢, +4/+4 reputation otherwise.
  • Gideon Oak (if you either met him before during The Pilgrim's Path/False Idols or have commission with Luddic Church):
  • Can be tossed into any Black Hole for 1 story point.

It can also be offered to Jorien Kanta for her protection, but she will refuse to take it. Regular Luddic Church contacts will also refuse to deal with it.
