What about S-mods? Do I get anything special by scuttling S-modded ships? 178.66.51.136 10:34, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- You get some bonus XP as of 0.95.1a. One of the new tips states: "Scuttling or losing a ship with s-mods you've built into it grants enough bonus XP to gain back the story points spent on building the hullmods in." - Histidine (talk) 12:09, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry for slow reply, I couldn't figure out how to check for updates after forgetting the exact page I posted on. I just saw that tip in game as well, but it specifically says "you've built in" - what about recovering enemy ships with hullmods and scuttling them? Is it possible, engine-wise, for the game to track the author of S-mods to prevent green XP farming this way? I'm playing with Nexerelin mod, not sure if AI-generated S-modded ships are the thing in vanilla. Also, amazing, I'm gonna scuttle my early game Onslaught and get a 14th replacement now! 178.66.46.73 10:46, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
- I recall Alex saying somewhere that it does track where the S-mod came from, so scuttling S-modded ships you get from elsewhere won't give you bonus XP (indeed, you normally can't acquire such ships in vanilla to begin with, as vanilla removes the S-mods on enemy ship recovery).
- As an aside, you may find it easier to use the comments section at the bottom of the main page, instead of the wiki talk page :) - Histidine (talk) 10:51, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yea, confirmed, game tracks S-mods and doesn't award you anything extra for scuttling NPC-added S-mods. But I found out about another take on the subject, Progressive S-mods mod that basically gives each ship individual XP, very interesting. I can't use comments here, don't know whether it's sanctions (i'm from Russia) or I have to register separate account and I don't really care that much to fix it. 178.66.46.73 20:29, 9 August 2022 (UTC)

- I did find an S-mod on an NPC ship in vanilla, not from enemy combat recovery but from a discovered floating derelict. I can also confirm I got no bonus xp for scuttling that derelict.Dynafire
